New Years a few years back...2007 3DayAfter my Beautiful Girlfriend became my Beautiful Fiance!!
Lea and I met at Moreau Catholic High School. I was in the class of 1996 and she the class of 1994. But the age difference didn't stop her from dating the most attractive guy in my class...my buddy Mike. Lea and Mike (still my best friend to this day and my Best Man at the wedding) dated until her graduation in 1994. She then moved away to college but she and I stayed in touch as the years passed thanks to the miracle of the internet. We eventually took our relationship to the next level becoming not just "friends" but "myspace friends". In 2005 as Lea was moving back to the Bay Area from Monterey I was moving to Southern California where I had just bought a house in the Temecula area. Our paths just seemed to keep crossing at all the wrong points. But as fate would have it, Lea was brought to San Diego for the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk later that same year and our first official date was when I picked her up at the airport and acted as her taxi to Opening Ceremonies. After that, anytime either one of us was in the other's town we found time for each other and before we knew it a year had gone by and The 3-Day walk came back around. This time, Lea and I participated together in the event, I wasn't ready to tackle the 60 miles just yet, so we crewed as part of the food service team. The event was so amazing that the following year I vowed to be ready to walk. And walk we did, hand in hand (maybe not all 60 miles) as the "Crusaders for the Cure," our 2nd 3-Day experience was quite memorable but the best was yet to come. Ready for it, here comes the best...This year, at our 3rd 3-Day, on the 3rd Day, at the 3rd Pit Stop, I got down on my knee (you try that after 54.8 miles) in my Pink Batman outfit and asked Pink Supergirl to be my wife. It was meant to be a private moment but that was all shattered when we heard a fellow walker scream "OH MY GOD, He's proposing!" Thankfully though that pulled Lea out of her shock and she finally said yes once the tears subsided. Our private moment spread through the 2000 walkers like wildfire, Pink Batman and Supergirl got engaged! I'm still waiting for the Enquirer to break the story. And to top it all off our dynamic duo just happened to be in front of the Hall of Justice (see picture above, taken just moments after the proposal). It really couldn't have been better! Next year, 6 days after we get married we'll be kicking off our honeymoon walking hand in hand for the 3rd time as the Crusader for the Cure.
Lea and I are so excited to spend our special day with you, our friends and family who have been witness to our love from day 1. Thank you all so much for everything!!!
